How to Use Coconut Oil for Self-care and Beaty

From the point of view of nutrition, coconut oil is a questionable vegetable oil, coconut: it contains almost no vitamins, very few minerals and trace elements. But it has a lot of saturated fats: one tablespoon of coconut oil contains about 12 grams, which is more than half of the maximum recommended daily allowance.

But from a domestic point of view, coconut oil is simply irreplaceable. It can be used in dozens of different ways. And each of them has a scientifically proven effect.

1. Hair Strengthening

Coconut oil is a natural alternative to ready-made masks and conditioners. It is able to penetrate into the hair shaft like no other oil, thanks to its unique structure of fatty acids. This helps reduce protein loss and reduces damage to the scales when brushing.

To strengthen your hair, apply liquid coconut oil before or after washing your hair and leave it on for a few minutes or half an hour. It can be used pure or with a few drops of essential oil, such as rosemary.

2. Hand and Foot Skin Care

Coconut oil can be a great alternative to moisturizers and soothing creams. Apply it to your heels, corns, or any other areas where you feel your skin is too dry and irritated.

3. Fighting Unpleasant Smells

Its antibacterial abilities make coconut oil not a bad natural deodorant to apply to the skin, for example for sweaty feet or hands. To make the deodorizing effect more pronounced, add a couple of drops of your favorite essential – tea tree, mint, rose – to coconut oil.

4. Cuticle care

This oil can help get rid of dry, flaky cuticles. Just rub it into the skin around the nail plates.

5. Lip Care

Mixing coconut oil with finely ground salt makes an interesting lip scrub. Not only will it smooth the skin, but it will visually enhance your lips. And the oil itself can act as a natural alternative to lipstick.

6. Cooking lip balm tinting

If you have a favorite lipstick that has already run out, you can take out of the applicator its remnants, mixed with coconut oil, and you get a tinted balm. And it’s all about lip care, keeping your lips moisturized and even protecting them from the sun.

7. Face and Body Scrubbing

For a scrub, add baking soda, coffee grounds or brown sugar to the oil.

8. Fight acne

Coconut oil has pronounced moisturizing and antibacterial effects of virgin coconut oil and its medium-chain fatty acids on Clostridium difficile effect. It can therefore be used as a cream for problematic skin. Or as a home facial mask: apply to clean skin for 10-15 minutes, rinse off with warm water. If desired, add honey, kefir or egg white to the oil.

9. Prevention of skin aging

This same coconut oil face mask is an excellent anti-aging remedy for anti-inflammatory and skin barrier repair effects of topical application of some plant oils.

10. Styling

If your hair tends to curl in humid weather, smooth two to three drops of coconut oil in your palms on particularly stubborn curls.

11. Giving Shine to Hair

The same oil grinded in the palms of your hands will add shine and make your hair look polished. Keep in mind that the effect is more noticeable on dark tresses. And do not go overboard with the amount of oil: two or three drops will be enough, otherwise your hair will be too heavy.

12. Removing the wax

If you’re using wax for waxing, you’ll need coconut oil to remove any residue from your skin or other surfaces. Apply some oil to sticky areas and gently remove the wax with a damp washcloth.

13. Using as a shaving cream

The coconut oil for shaving improves blade glide and moisturizes the epidermis. Especially good for people with sensitive skin.

14. Preparing Massage Oil

Mix coconut oil with a few drops of your favorite essential oil for the perfect massage formula for home spa treatments.

15. Demakeup

Put a few drops of the oil on a cotton pad and gently wipe your face with it until you completely wash off your mascara, lipstick, foundation or powder.

16. Strengthening Your Eyelashes

Rub a couple of drops of oil in your fingers and apply it along the lash growth line. You can also use a thoroughly washed brush from old mascara for this purpose. Leave it on for a few minutes or even overnight. Coconut oil will helpIs lashes to recover from damage (which occurs, for example, when using a curler) and make them stronger.

17. Care for the skin around the eyes

With its moisturizing and protein-loss-reducing properties, coconut oil can help delay wrinkles in this delicate area. Use it as an alternative to eye cream or serum.
